Joseph Voon ,pioneer Michaelian  student and future Lasallain Brother

Fact File

·         Joseph Voon  eventually joined the Lasalle Brothers.

·         He took the name of Brother Basil Voon.

·         His first posting after training was to  St.Paul’s High School in Rangoon,Myannmar, where among his first students was the  future Bro.U.Paul

·         The story of Joseph Voon exemplifies one of the most powerful traditions at St.Michael’s.

·         Thousands of Michaelians upon leaving school continue to be valiant and true to their alma mater in innumerable ways.

·         This includes the practice of returning to serve the school as teachers.

·         We see this as a vital policy guideline for the future of the

       mission schools in Malaysia.  

   Footnote:

  A great many old boys and girls have returned to serve the alma mater over these 100 years. At first, it was a trickle which became a flood in the 1950's and 60's. Now it is  less than a trickle....
