St.Michael's in 1912
St.John Baptist de Lasalle

This is the story of an extraordinary school. Like  many of its students ,  St Michael’s  had humble  beginnings in poverty and simplicity. It was on  the rainy morning of 4th December 1912 that its first students arrived for their classes  in a simple Malay-style kampong house in what was then known as Kampung Pisang . From humble origins St Michael’s  has gone on to achieve greatness for  the distinctive brand of education it has given its children. It is a school founded on the bedrock of three principles “FAITH, ZEAL and SERVICE”. To understand the story of St Michael’s Institution  , you will need to understand  the charismatic founder of the world-wide Lasallian fraternity – John Baptist De La Salle.
