“Valiant and True”
is dedicated to St John Baptist de La Salle , founder of the
worldwide Lasallian fraternity, to Father
J.B.Coppin who founded our beloved
school and to all who have followed
their noble footsteps in the cause of education of youth at our alma mater - St Michael’s Institution,Ipoh , Malaysia. To this day, St Michael’s is a shining
beacon that symbolises education based
on the Lasallian values of FAITH, ZEAL and COMMUNITY. Generations to come will
continue to draw inspiration from St.Michael’s
- a crucible of excellence in education for leadership, service
and the advancement of human dignity.
This Lasallian star – Signum Fidei - is seen
in all our Lasllian schools in Malaysia and throughout the world. It
is the star of faith that represents every Lasallian student and teacher .Our
mission is to enable every child to be a living sign of faith wherever he
goes, wherever he is, in everything he does.

The Latin words “Quis Ut Deus” mean “Who is greater than
God?” The name “Michael” comes from
the Greek language and it means the same – “Who is greater than God?” The scales represent Duty to God and Duty to Man. You will
notice that it seems to say that Duty to God should be in balance with duty
to Man. No, the message is that it is through our love, care and concern
for our fellow beings that we truly show our love for God.

These chevrons convey the
indomitable and indivisible spirit of the La Sallian fraternity. They show
the oneness of the fraternity in the face of all adversities. The chevrons
remind many of a team of players with broken legs but they stiil stay true to
one another as a team . This symbol is one of the most eloquent signs of
the valiant and true.

Our school is
named for St Michael, the Archangel. The story of St.Michael, the Archangel, is
shared by all three Abrahamic faiths – Christianity,Islam and Judaism. The name
“Michael” means “Quis Ut Deus” – Who is greater than God?
